PURPOSE
As a couple’s therapist, I operate out of a passion for helping families and, particularly, couples. I believe healthy couples are a foundational element for building healthy family systems and communities. I have worked with families, individuals, and couples for 20+ years applying my academic strengths and ongoing learning to adapt to changing social patterns and best meet the needs of our primary social units of family and couple relationships. Over the years, I have also developed a Christian-Centered Couple’s Therapy modality that helps to develop healthy relationship structure and engagement through compassion and empathy-based Biblical principles. This style is available upon request.

STRUCTURE
In my experience with couples in therapy, it is easy to get lost in "who is right and who is wrong" in and loose valuable session time too focused on emotions and irrelavant issues. In my attempt to remain focused on delivering quality sessions, I have found it helpful to use information gathering tools to gain a more objective view of underlying relationship issues. As a result, two relationship assessments are required which will present an objective view of relationship issues. These assessments also aid in creating a more structured therapeutic process which makes room for education, demonstration of learning and healthy identification and resolution of problems. The fee for both to complete all assessments and begin couple’s sessions is $250.

Every potential couple is allowed one "meet & greet" session to decide whether I am a good fit for you, and you are a good fit for me, which may or may not be reimbursable. If you decide to proceed with couple's therapy, you will pay the $250 fee. Once the fee is paid, the assessments will be sent out to the email of your choice. All assessments (2 each) must be completed for my review at least 7 days prior to your next session or that session will be postponed.

Once sessions begin, the recommendation is always to do 2-hour sessions (1hr 45min) for the first 6 to 8 sessions, then continue to 1-hour sessions with maintenance as needed. However, I do understand that not all schedules may always align with this expectation.

PRICING
If you meet guidelines for medical necessity, insurance may give you some portion of reimbursement. You will let me know that you would like a Superbill. In short, guidelines for medical necessity means you are have mental health symptoms that are severe enough to warrant a DSM 5 medical diagnosis (e.g. Depression, Anxiety, Adjustment Disorder, etc.). Within your intake paperwork, everyone will receive some basic mental health self-report assessments, which will allow you to report real symptoms you may be experiencing as a result of relationship conflict or other life issues. If you do not meet medically necessary guidelines, you will be informed before the start of sessions so that you may make adjustments.
